Dreams of Peace and Freedom: The Streams of Natural Law

A powerful combination of film, text, and performance exploring the birth of modern human rights, told through the eyes of Nuremberg prosecutor and champion of the ECHR, David Maxwell Fyfe. His words intertwine with Sue Casson’s musical settings of the poets who inspired him on his journey along his stream of natural law.     In its 75th anniversary year, we have forgotten why we have the ECHR. A living commemoration of a living law, this beautiful song cycle offers a new way to view the Convention, telling its story through the words of its British artisan, Edinburgh-born David Maxwell Fyfe. It shows how the seeds of ECHR grew in the wasteland of the evidence of the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials.     Around the World on a Piano

    Dutch composer/pianist Hermane composes beautiful songs with intricate harmonies. Before settling in Andalusia, he spent thirty years in Latin America, USA, Asia and Africa, soaking up the traditional music of each country. A meticulous composer, his goal is to create virtuoso pieces, endowed with a fragility that moves the listener – so different from the typical four repeated chords structure common to much contemporary music.
